It was in this context, why Ravi went ‘Green’ several years ago, and now presents a more environmentally focused look to the rest of the world. The new brand identity: ‘Ravi Clean Green’ of Ravi Industries Limited effectively portrays its concern for the environment and its continuing efforts as an environmentally responsible brush manufacturer. Although, the outer facade of the company has changed, to better reflect the pressing needs of our times, the company continues to forge ahead with the same specialised professionalism, to bring you the world’s most demanded eco friendly brushes and brooms.
The change towards a greener image is also prompted by a global outcry to preserve the environment. In brush industry, ‘going green’ and ‘recycling’ were virtually unheard terms a few years back, and now witnessing a ‘green revolution’ of its very own. More and more members of their international clientele demanding a more responsible product, and not just in terms of quality, coupled with their unyielding efforts to safeguard the environment, while building a sustainable business model, lie at the heart of this greener outlook adopted by Ravi.
Ravi Industries Limited commenced operations in 1962, and its potential as a global supplier of specialised brushes was identified by the Hayleys Group of Companies, which annexed Ravi in 1975. In the following years Ravi established close liaisons and joint ventures, first with Borstelfabriek VERO of the Netherlands and with Dupont and Vero BV, enabling the Company to utilise the vast global expertise at its disposal, catapulting the Company to the international arena, manufacturing superior quality brushes of a truly international and elevated standard.
After four decades of specialised work Ravi Industries now manufactures a wide range of the highest quality brushes, brooms, banisters and scrubs catering to the needs in domestic and industrial cleaning. Ravi utilises variety of brush filling material, such as Coco, Palmyra, Arenga, Tampico etc., producing mainly with rubber-wood backs. Ravi Brushes enjoy a prolific presence in numerous overseas markets such as Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Middle East, South Korea, Singapore, the United States of America and Japan, among others. The Company is also the recipient of the prestigious Presidential Export Award in Sri Lanka, and maintains fully fledged front offices in the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States of America.
Ravi was the first brush manufacturer in Sri Lanka to produce brushes in accordance with regulations stipulated by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which ensures that the timber used to manufacture brushes is obtained only from well-managed sustainable plantations: incidentally, the rubber timber used by the company is a renewable resource, with trees replanted every thirty years.
