Ravi Industries Limited has been awarded the Presidential Export
Award for Outstanding Export Performance in year 2006, in
the category of Non-Traditional Products and Services – Coconut &
Coconut based Products. This most prestigious gold award is the
highest recognition for excellent export performance at National
level.

From it’s modest
beginning in 1962, Ravi Industries Limited, which pioneered the
brush industry in Sri Lanka, to cater to needs of the local market,
has come a long way and today it is a top global supplier of
quality, innovative and eco-friendly brushware, well known for it’s
fast delivery and high level of service. The company has grown
steadily, since it’s acquisition by the Hayleys Group of companies,
one of Sri Lanka’s most respected and highly diversified public
quoted conglomerates. Hayleys, as one of the most outstanding
socially responsible cooperate citizens, supports the global compact
initiative. Borstelfabriek VERO, a reputed brush manufacturer in
Holland, acquired a share of Ravi Industries Ltd. in 1976. The
marketing and technical expertise, brought in by VERO, contributed
to rapid growth of Ravi Industries Ltd. Even today Vermunt’s family
(VERO’s original owners) owns a share of Ravi.
Ravi’s Hi-TECH
state-of-the art production plant, with modern CNC controlled brush
making machines from G.B. Boucherie N.V., Schlesinger Maschinenbau
and Zahoransky, on a 200,000 sq.ft. factory floor space provides
employment both directly and indirectly to more than one thousand
people. The company has technical capability to manufacture and
supply household, builders range and industrial brushware to suit
customers specific needs. In addition to brushware, the company
supplies brush blocks to other brush manufacturers. Coco fibre,
palmyrah fibre, PVC, PPN, Arenga Fibre, Tampico fibre, mixtures of
fibres, etc. are used as brush filling materials depending on
customer needs. The company also has a plastic range of Brushware,
developed to suit specific customer needs.
Today Ravi Industries Ltd. accounts for almost 50% of the turnover
of Brushware, exported from Sri Lanka. The company has an extensive
buyer network in U.K., Belgium, Germany, France, Netherlands,
Austria, Poland, USA, Japan, Middle East, Korea, Australia,
Singapore, Taiwan, etc. Ravi has marketing offices in U.K. and Japan
to serve customer needs better. The company’s annual turnover is
2007/2008 financial year was around seven million US Dollars and
hope to achieve out turnover target of eight and half million US
Dollars this year.
In 1998 Ravi Industries
Ltd. became one of Asia’s first brush manufacturer to obtain ISO
9001 quality certification from DNV, the globally renowned Dutch
certification agency. Ravi also obtained ISO 14001 environmental
management systems certificate in 2004, a proof of its commitment to
environmental protection.
An eco-friendly manufacturer, Ravi Industries Ltd. became the first
brush manufacturer in Sri Lanka to obtain Forest Stewardship Council
(FSC) certification. The rubber timber used on brushware comes from
plantations which strictly confirms to environmental friendly
standards in areas such as soil erosion, pollution control,
preservation of flora and fauna, etc.
The company which has
recorded an impressive 15 to 20 percent growth rate in the past,
looks into the future with optimism and hopes to maintain this
growth rate by introducing new products and expanding customer base.
